Meet Phil

Teacher and Coach | Small Business Owner | Former Union Member

Phil Hornback is Union Strong. The son of a nurse and a mason, Phil has been a union brick layer and owned his own masonry business. He’s been a union Middle School science teacher, coached football, and has been a successful real estate broker. For years, he has been a fixture in the Hillsborough county community, helping guide incoming teachers and first-time home buyers. Phil’s running for House District 58 to fight for the average Floridian, give a voice to the voiceless, and stand up to special interests in Tallahassee.

Phil knows all about the importance of a strong foundation, and Phil’s foundation has always been his exceptional work ethic. His whole life he’s been the first in and the last to leave, whether it’s coaching kids in football, orienting incoming teachers, or helping first time home buyers.

As someone who graduated college taking night classes twenty years after he graduated high school, he knows what it’s like to set goals and to see them through. Phil Hornback isn’t some all talk politician, he’s someone who has spent a lifetime getting things done and helping people in his community.

Having spent nearly a decade in the classroom as a middle school science teacher, Phil knows we need invest in our schools, our students, and our teachers. In his time teaching, he worked with a NASA outreach school, so he literally knows what it means to help our kids shoot for the stars. This November let’s send a teacher like Phil to Tallahassee to teach our legislature a lesson!

the issues

Education

I support Public Education, not privatized education. I will stand up for the students and teachers of our state who have been taken for granted by Tallahassee.

Home Rule

For far too long Tallahassee has been telling our local communities what they can and cannot do and their one size fits all approach isn’t working.
